The purpose of educational work in the 7th “b” class in the 2019-2020 school year was the formation of group cohesion in the class kind attitude towards life, the ability to find joy in it and the desire to do good.
The objectives of the educational work were as follows:
– To study the personality of each child his physical and psychological state of the ability to team building;
– to develop their creative potential;
– to activate the work of the class staff and parents through participation in school and class events;
– to create in students an awareness of the importance of the learning process;
– to create favorable conditions for the manifestation of organizational abilities of students;
– motivate students to lead a healthy lifestyle;
– to develop the civic-patriotic and moral qualities of the students.
The priority areas of educational work in the classroom on the basis of the educational work plan of the school are:
– spiritual and moral;
– civic-patriotic and legal;
– sports and recreational;
– preventive;
– work training;
– the work of self-government bodies.
While setting educational tasks I proceeded from the plan of educational work of school, and also from the relevance of these problems in the process of development of a class collective and formation of the personality of students.
For the solution of the tasks set by the class teacher the class hours according to the plan of educational work of school, conversation with students, instructions, parents’ meetings were spent, and students were involved in school and class events.
By the end of the academic year the number of good and excellent pupils in the class remained the same as last year: 1 person graduated with “excellent” (…) and 4 persons with “good” (……). The percentage of quality of knowledge is 38%. However, during the year, only MJ, who is an excellent student in her class, kept her academic performance stable. Most students have decreased their academic performance. The children show weak interest in the learning process and do not see the need to get good grades and meet the requirements of the teacher properly. This phenomenon was a consequence of the children entering the period of adolescence, the change of interests and life priorities – in the first place there was a desire to attract the attention of the opposite sex, a passion for cell phones. A large number of absences from school due to illness and unexcused absences (S L) also had a negative impact. To solve this problem I conducted classroom hours, talks with students, parent’s meetings and conversations with parents on relevant topics: cell phone addiction, carelessness in doing homework, discrepancy of appearance of students to business style of dress, inappropriate execution of student and parent’s obligations. I regularly monitored the progress and homework of my students and liaised with parents and subject teachers.
During the last academic year the following changes occurred in terms of development of moral, aesthetic, communicative, physical potential of pupils: children began to appreciate in each other a greater sense of humor, reliability, understanding, honesty, mutual support. I have held classes and discussions with students during the school year to develop skills such as: the ability to resolve conflicts peacefully, to say openly what is disagreeable to you without trying to insult each other, and to build personal boundaries and show tolerance in communication. At the same time, the behavior of some students is characterized by excessive expressiveness and emotionality, a need for attention, infantilism, and denial of norms of behavior. This is V.T., A.A. I have repeatedly talked to the girls about their behavior; also we talked to their parents; however, it didn’t have any significant effect. The same students as …….., on the contrary, are mostly shy and withdrawn. Most of the students in the class are not conflicted and have a benevolent or neutral attitude toward each other.
Over the past school year, students in the 7th “b” class participated in various school-wide and class activities, and often had positive results. In the 2019-20 school year, the 7th “b” class team won first place in the Spartakiade, and individual students were also awarded certificates of merit for their achievements in sports: ….. For participation in the competition of military-patriotic song …. was awarded a diploma of the 2nd degree in the category “Solo performance”. It should be noted that … willingly participated in various school events in the past year, speaking for the honor of the class: in addition to solo performance at the military-patriotic song contest, she read a poem at the holiday “Fall Ball”, performed an unusual trick when performing the general dance at the holiday “New Year”. The children performed the “Ded Moroz Dance” at the “New Year” celebration with dignity. At the same time …. and …. showed their organizational skills while preparing the dance. The girls led the class during rehearsals and actively participated in the selection of movements for the dance. ….. repeatedly showed her organizational and artistic skills throughout the year. Under her guidance and with her active participation a class corner was made. All of the girls were involved in this work, but Victoria did most of the work. As a result, the class corner of the 7 “b” class was awarded among the best class corners of the school. Also ….. made a promotional poster for the “Autumn Ball” holiday. Even though the poster did not win us a prize at the festive contest, it was noted by the jury for its independence. All these data show that it is necessary to continue to create conditions for the manifestation of creative, sporting and organizational abilities of students, to encourage these activities, thereby directing the desire of children to stand out, to attract attention to themselves in a fruitful and creative way.
It should be noted that in the past academic year, students in the 7 “B” grade were most eager to participate in creative and sports events, in class hours which were interactive in nature, where they had to think, express their point of view, and compete in their knowledge. The informative class hours and instructional lessons did not arouse much interest among the students. The next school year we need to make provisions for more involvement of the students in the classroom hours in order to increase their interest and involvement in the educational process.
Most of the students have a favorable family environment. However, there is a group of children in the class who are at risk. Basically, these are children from large families, single parent families, and children who live with a guardian grandmother. The most problematic student of this group this year was …., who lives in a large family. He missed a lot of classes without a good reason and was not certified in a number of subjects. In order to find out the reasons for the large number of absences and to prevent them in the future the class teacher talked to the students and their parents, the parents … met with the deputy director for education, visited the family …. at home and examined the living and communal conditions. However, these measures did not bring any results. Subsequently, the Prevention Council of the school was also convened, by whose decision a petition was filed to the guardianship authorities and the KPDN.
The following students also turned out to be problematic:
– …., who lives with her grandmother and is characterized by defiant behavior, disdainful attitude towards studies, teachers;
– ……, who also lives with her grandmother and has psychological problems: an increased level of anxiety, psychological complexes about his appearance, the desire to avoid responsibility, fear of disapproval from the grandmother, as a result of which has repeatedly been caught in a lie in communication with teachers and relatives.
Both girls decreased their academic performance.
Also, …. significantly lowered her academic performance. It should be mentioned that … is distinguished by her defiant behavior and disdainful attitude towards studies, teachers and some classmates.
To solve these problems I had talks with girls themselves and their parents/legal representatives. However, they were not effective enough.
In the next school year it is necessary to continue to work closely with these students and their parents/legal representatives, and it is necessary, in my opinion, to organize close cooperation with the teacher-psychologist for qualified psychological help to students in the presence of parents.
As for the class staff as a whole, we can say that the class staff of the 7th grade is quite formed and well-established. It is difficult to identify microgroups in the class; there are rather pairs of students who communicate more closely with each other on the basis of friendly relations and proximity of living with each other. The relationship between these pairs and the rest of the class is neutral. The leader of the class is ….., who, in addition to being older than all the students and having organizational skills, is open to new ideas and willing to make contact, and is sociable. She shows independence, the ability to organize the class team in solving class problems, she is responsible and executive enough, active in carrying out assignments and independent organization of class activities. …. is the main duty officer and always performs her duties clearly and responsibly. At the same time, it is quite difficult to open up in the classroom team to students such as: ……. The reasons for this phenomenon I think insufficient self-confidence of these students, the possible lack of common interests with the main mass of students, shyness. During the next school year it is necessary to plan the work on creation of conditions for active manifestation of personality of these students and students of the class as a whole, perhaps, to organize events with the involvement of school psychologist, including various kinds of psychological trainings, games, questioning, as well as class hours on the interests of students, self-presentation.
The microclimate in the class is quite favorable and the class is quite cohesive. According to a questionnaire and conversations with students, children are generally satisfied with their relationships with their classmates. Relations between students are mostly neutral and friendly. Sometimes there are isolated conflicts or disagreements, but these are not critical. Relations with the parallel class are quite friendly, but not without healthy competition. Competition was also noted between individual girls in grades 7 “b” and 8. Some students maintain friendly relations with students from other classes, but otherwise the relationship of the 7th grade with the rest of the class is neutral. There were no changes in the composition of the class during the year. All students in the class are involved in extracurricular activities, attend hobby groups and some students attend sports clubs (…..). Class traditions are celebration of lights on February 23 and March 8, solidarity and active support of each other when participating in school-wide competitions, class duty, joint general cleaning of the classroom. The students of the 7 “b” class perform school-wide assignments quite responsibly, for example, they participated in cleaning the school grounds, and they also were responsible enough to be on duty at school. Students who were reluctant to perform their duties were judged by their classmates. The children preferred such activities as: socializing, sports, and games. They willingly do these activities during class hours, recess, and after-school hours. On the whole, the class collective of 7 “B” grade is independent enough, because there is a leader (….) and responsible, responsive guys (….) who are able to organize classmates within certain activities by their joint efforts. Although some students are not responsible enough and need supervision in different spheres of activity (…..).
The majority of students observe the norms of student behavior and treat teachers respectfully, do not break discipline in class, and behave calmly during breaks. Except for ….. who periodically behaves in a defiant and infantile manner, …. who provokes conflicts with girls, and …. who often misses school without a good reason.
Throughout the year I worked closely with the students’ parents on academic performance, behavior and appearance, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. According to the plan of my educational work I had four parent’s meetings:
– Organizational, where the election of the parents’ committee took place.
– Peculiarities of adolescence. Where in addition to the psychological characteristics, we discussed the physiological changes that occur with children in the transition years, and the relevant rules of hygiene.
– Family values in today’s society. This meeting raised the issues of raising children, inculcating family and cultural values in a rapidly changing world.
– Aggression of children: its causes and prevention. The theme of the parents meeting was very actual in connection with psychological changes in the behavior of children of the transition age.
Besides these questions I covered the questions of the progress of children and organizational aspects. Parents actively participated in discussion of the actual problems: asked their questions and expressed their wishes to the organization of the educational process. On the whole we can say that parents are satisfied with class and school life of their children. They helped a lot in preparing the traditional lights on March 23 and 8, also went along with the costumes for the New Year dance, and together we were able to provide a unified style of dance group. In addition, the parents prepared festive gifts. A special role in the organization of these events belongs to the representatives of the Class Parents’ Committee, namely …..
During the education of students of the class besides the parents and the class teacher the representatives of the school administration, subject teachers and the social pedagogue took an active part and played a significant role.
The biggest difficulty in the educational work with the class caused me to educate them responsible attitude to study and performance of student duties, in particular homework. It was also difficult to work on normalizing the behavior of individual students. In this regard, I think it’s necessary in the next school year
– To strengthen the control over the learners, their behaviour during and out of curricular time, their progress, accomplishment of homework and attendance;
– to provide more opportunities for self-expression in the preparation and carrying out of class hours and different events;
– cooperate more closely with students’ parents, subject teachers, and the school psychologist.
In general, based on the results of the year, I consider the educational work in the 7 “b” in the 2019-2020 school year to be of sufficient level/satisfactory.
